DIPLOMA OF LEADERSHIP

Through the introduction of foundational principles for personal and professional leadership, ministry and theology, you will be equipped to lead in your area of influence, whilst being grounded in a robust Biblical and Theological foundation. You will be given the opportunity to practice Christian leadership principles in your chosen ministry stream and in a cross-cultural mission trip, solidifying theoretical principles with practical experience

Future Pathways
The completed Diploma of Leadership can be used as credit equivalent to the first year of a Bachelor of Theology or Bachelor of Ministry.

Entry Requirements
Aged 21+ OR completion of Year 10

English Proficiency
Applicants whose entry qualifications were obtained in an institution where English is not the language of instruction normally require a minimum IELTS (or equivalent) score of 6.0 with no score less than 5.5 in all bands of the test. A student can be admitted provisionally into the Associate Degree of Theology and Ministry when they have an IELTS result of 6.0 with no score less than 5.5 in all bands of the test.

Survey of the Old & New Testament (B511OP) & (B5150P)
Go deeper in God’s word with a thorough survey of the Bible. Taken in two units over the whole year, students will read through the entire Bible either individually or in groups. The lectures and assessments will focus on the books, authors, general themes, concepts, historical concepts and unifying theology of the Old and New Testaments. Students will be equipped with basic exegetical strategies to understand Scripture and will be challenged to apply the truths of Scripture to their personal lives and contemporary situations.

Transformational Leadership (P5161P)
Transformational Leadership teaches students how to apply basic leadership principles in a variety of Ministry and workplace environments. Covering topics like Natural Vs. Spiritual Leadership, the Art of Delegating and the Sacrifices of Leadership, students will learn practical skills as well as the theory behind leadership principles. The unit culminates in a panel with a variety of established leaders, to ensure students are learning what is used in workplaces today.

Supervised Ministry 1 (P5171P)
An internship unit that allows students to learn the practice of ministry in the local church setting. This unit will build important skills regardless of which vocation students plan to pursue. This subject requires oversight from the referring church in order to provide a mentor for the student.

Introduction to Christian Doctrine (T5105P)
Introduction to Christian Doctrines is the foundational unit of Planetshakers College. It teaches a strong understanding for students to grow in their faith. Come discover what the Bible has to say about God, Creation and the Fall, the nature of humanity, angels and demons, the atonement and resurrection of Christ and much more.

Introduction to Leadership (P5155P)
Introduction to Christian Leadership is a unit focused on self-leadership and personal discipleship. Students are taught spiritual disciplines, character integrity and basic self and small group leadership principles to equip them to serve the Church in greater capacity. This unit also covers the traits and behaviours of Biblically sound leadership, how to identify leaders in the real world and in turn, how to develop oneself as a leader.

Person & Work of the Holy Spirit (T5116P)
This unit is a central part of the Diploma of Leadership at Planetshakers College and deals with our Pentecostal distinctives and philosophy of ministry. Students will study and prepare assessments about the Holy Spirit, but more than that, students will be trained to operate in the miraculous gifts of the Spirit. Each lecture and tutorial have both a scriptural and a practical component which will encourage students to grow in their understanding of the Move of the Spirit in an environment of encounter.

Basics of Pastoral Preaching (P5150P)
Basics of Pastoral Preaching is a unit which equips students with the tools to develop their communication skills. Not only do students learn about the art of preaching but they are given the tools to differentiate between skill and operating under the anointing. Students learn to tailor sermons in response to a variety of contexts and operate with the Holy Spirit in delivering the Gospel message. Basics of Pastoral Preaching is assessed by delivering a testimony, a sermon and a speech.


2nd Year • Undergraduate

Associate Degree of Ministry and Theology

Building on the foundations of the Diploma of Leadership, you will dive deeper into Christian Theology and Biblical Studies. You will be equipped with guiding principles for Christian Ministry in contemporary society, develop spiritual disciplines in your own personal discipleship and consider Christian Ethical principles within the context of non-Christian worldviews.

Early Church History (H7100P)
Early Church History traces Christian history from Christ, to the birth of the Pentecostal movement. While students are being introduced to the rich history and tradition of the Christian Church, they will focus on the heroes and villains of the faith. This subject is also intended to impart a deeper knowledge of Pentecostal heritage as well. Students will learn; key figures in the Christian Church; doctrinal disputes; the creeds; the reformation and various renewal movements within modern Church history.

Unlocking Romans (B6261P)
Arguably the apex of Pauline thought, not to mention the New Testament theology, the letter to the Romans offers the clearest and fullest teaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is an exegetical unit that will give students deeper insights into the historical situation of 1st century Christianity, the problems facing the emerging gentile church and the enduring truth of the Christian message.

The Pentateuch (B6212P)
In Pentateuch, students will take a deep dive into the first 5 books of the Bible. This unit looks at the culture and customs of the day, while also exploring heroes of the faith, like Abraham and Moses. This unit will equip students in their exegesis of the Bible, by providing a strong understanding of the Law, and of God’s heart for His people.

Christian Ethics (E6100P)
Is a subject which teaches students how to think about making ethical decisions through various ethical frameworks. Students will be exposed to several ethical frameworks and their strengths and weaknesses, learn to think critically through them and assess their usefulness in a given scenario. This unit will teach students to consider their Christian ethic and how it answers the various contemporary issues in the 21st Century.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of the Diploma of Leadership at Higher Education level, you will have:

  • Read through the entire Bible

  • Developed a dynamic and intimate relationship with God

  • Established fundamental knowledge in Biblical Studies and Christian Theology

  • Gained mastery in personal and organisational leadership principles

  • Practiced experiential leadership within your chosen stream (Full time students only)

Subject Outline

Students completing the Diploma of Leadership will have read through the entire Bible, prepared and delivered a sermon, completed a course on the Foundations of Christian Doctrine, grown in their relationship with God, studied and received input from world class leaders and undertaken practical training through faithful servanthood in the various ministries and events of the Church.

Upon completion of the Associate Degree of Theology & Ministry, you will have:

Subject Outline

Supervised Ministry 2 (P6172P)
Is the second of two serving subjects and expands upon Supervised Ministry 1. This unit places our students in the activity of their local church. It enables them to volunteer one day a week as part of their internship and develop the skills needed to best serve your church. This subject formalizes the internship aspect of their Associate Degree and keeps their work practical. Serving for this subject may include; pastoral care; creative ministry; youth ministry; kids ministry; church conferences or anything that your church has a need for.

The Person and Work of Christ (T6210P)
Explores the realm of Christology and Soteriology. Students will develop an in-depth understanding of the trinity; the person and nature of Christ and the work of the cross. This class expands on the orthodox theology presented in Introduction to Christian Doctrines in the Diploma of Leadership and takes students to a deeper level.

Introduction to Personal Transformation (S6103P)
Personal Transformation explores the intersection of theology and psychology as we journey through topics such as suffering and the effects of trauma on humanity. This unit will look to scripture as a basis for God’s pathway for healing and wholeness in us as tripartite sons and daughters. In the context of this discussion, this unit will focus on emotionally healthy spirituality, the renewed mind, and stewarding the body for fruitful labour without burnout.

Biblical Hermeneutics (B7203P)
In this unit we examine a variety of hermeneutical methods, with specific focus on the hermeneutical principles involved with interpretation and application in 21st century ministry contexts. Some of the topics we look at include; Online Word Study Tools, Good vs Bad Interpretation, Memorising Scripture, Use of the Old Testament in the New, Holy Spirit and the Word of God and many more.

BACHELOR OF THEOLOGY
The Bachelor of Theology consolidates your Biblical and theological studies with units in Christian Apologetics, New Testament Greek and the exegesis of several New Testament books. The course prepares you for vocational ministry in a role that requires preaching and teaching. Students in the Bachelor of Theology program are invited to participate in many Acts Global Churches conferences and gathering around Australia.

BACHELOR OF MINISTRY
The Bachelor of Ministry offers units in Personal Transformation, Pastoral & Spiritual Care, Mental Health Response and an Introduction to Pastoral Ministry & Theology. You will receive training in advanced pastoral ministry practices, preparing you for leading ministry roles in and out of the context of the local Church. Those who have completed this degree will also be professionally qualified to work in Chaplaincy positions. Students in the Bachelor of Ministry program are invited to participate in many Acts Global Churches conferences and gathering around Australia.
